MILDRED INEZ LEWIS writes and directs for theater, film and the digital space. A Dramatists Guild member, she writes with Central Works, Ensemble Studio Theatre-Los Angeles, PlayGround-LA, Towne Street Theatre and The Road Theatre’s Under Construction fourth cycle. She recently joined the Rogue Artists Ensemble as an associate artist.
Current commissions include THE SONG OF OWENS for Sci@SPARC, TIMONIA @ NASHVILLE for Lifeline Theatre, JUKED, an adaptation of ELECTRA for A Different Myth (Asheville, NC) and FANTASMAS CROSSINGS for the Lucille Lortel. Ohlone College’s theatre department commissioned SMITH’S REVENGE in 2022. In 2021, the Harlem9, Lucille Lortel and National Black Theatre commissioned GHOSTS OF BLACKNESS, a hybrid comedy.
Recent productions include WE FOUR at The Road Theatre’s Under Construction Festival, LOUISIANA SHOAL for the 2023 Fade to Black Festival. The piece was in the Best of PlayGround LA 2023. INTO THE FLAME is coming up at The Workshop Theatre (NYC).
