Peace Activist - Climate Activist and Poet - trying to make a difference for over 40 years and won't give up. Nominated for the YMCA Canada Peace Medal in 2002. In march 2003 headed the Canadian delegation of a world-wide effort to present the leaders of 7 countries with 13,000 Anti-War Poems that had been submitted to a Poets-for-Peace website over a period of 6 weeks. Two days before the start of the Iraq War on March 17th 2003, the Prime Minister of Canada announced that Canada would not participate in the pending invasion saying Canada refused to declare war against Iraq without United Nations Security Council approval and because the people of Canada did not support it. I like to think my presentation of the 13,000 poems to the Prime Minister helped to motivate that decision. In 2004, I formed an Ontario Public Interest Student Research Working Group at McMaster University call SMART - Student Math Action Research Team. We researched the greenhouse gases from cars and trucks at the time and I made a presentation to the Ontario government and at a Natural Resources Canada conference in Ottawa on the subject of greenhouse gases that called for the elimination of 8 cylinder engines for passenger cars and the rapid replacement of combustion engines with electric.
