They/She

Roney Lee Jones is a playwright, director, and award winning actor from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Roney Lee Jones is a theater artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2020 their first play, The Obedient Mirage, was produced via Theater Alliance and filmed due to the Covid-19 quarantine. In retrospect, 2022 was when their career began to truly take shape; that summer they taught at Appel Farm Arts camp where they instructed youth for eight weeks which culminated in a performance of Pygmalion. Later that year they travelled to Sun Valley, Idaho to co-direct Passover with The Spot. That production was foundational to their dedication to Black storytelling and revolution through live-performance. In 2024 they joined LOUD; a Black, queer youth devised theater program as a co-director. As of January 2026 they are also a company member of Intramural Theater, where they have worked as both an actor and assistant director
