Roy Antonio Arauz

Costa Rican-American theatre maker based in Portland, OR.

Roy Antonio Arauz is a Costa Rican-American director and producer. He started choreographing in Washington, DC in the early '90s, earning a 1993 Helen Hayes Award Nomination for Outstanding Choreography for Female Hitchhikers (Consenting Adults). In Seattle he worked as choreographer, stage manager, and director at local theatres such as ArtsWest, Book-It Repertory, Driftwood Players, Latino Theatre Projects, SecondStory Repertory, and Snoqualmie Falls Forest Theatre. Recent directing projects include The Humans at Artists Repertory Theatre (assistant director) and La Segua at Milagro. He founded and was artistic director of Arouet from 2012-2015, where he got to produce and direct works that speak to social justice. Founding company member of Theatre9/12, where he was mentored by Charles Waxberg. Currently the Producing Creative Director at Milagro in Portland, OR. Member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab,  Directors Lab West, and the Latinx Theatre Commons Steering Committee. royarauz.com
