Rula(s) A. Muñoz (they/she) is a Mexican NYC-based director, dramaturg, writer, performer, and creative producer.

Rula(s) A. Muñoz is a director, dramaturg, writer, performer and creative producer based in New York City. They believe that there isn't a single way to be a storyteller. Some of their national and international theater credits include FOREVER AFTER (Assistant Director/TOSOS), THE F & L AT 1330 (Director/Dramatists Guild New England Regional’s Footlight Series), BETTER MAYBE (Director/Hyde Square Task Force), THE INHERITANCE (Assistant Director/SpeakEasy Stage), PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS (Dramaturg/SpeakEasy Stage), CONSTELLATIONS (Associate Producer/La Teatreria), ELLA (Associate Director/Teatro en Corto).

 

Born and raised in Mexico City, her passion for storytelling has allowed them to become a multi-hyphenate theater artist. They graduated in Contemporary Theatre from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and are an alumna of the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center's Advanced Directing program. Rula(s) also served as the SpeakEasy Stage Artistic Fellow for 2021-2022.

Carl(os) Roa and Rula(s) A. Muñoz share a multi-vocal, non-linear account of their group’s work at the Latinx Theatre Commons (LTC) Designer and Director Colaboratorio. Through both text and images, they document their group’s explorations of non-hierarchical generative process, as well as the challenges they faced.
