Ryan Donovan is a PhD candidate at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, where he researches casting, musicals, and theories of embodiment.
Ryan Donovan received his PhD in Theatre and Performance from The Graduate Center/CUNY. His book project, “Broadway Bodies: Recasting Difference in Contemporary Musicals” examines histories of how Broadway musicals have employed non-normative bodies. Ryan’s writing appears in The Journal of American Drama and Theatre, Studies in Musical Theatre and The Routledge Companion to the Contemporary Musical.
