Trip Venturella

Trip Venturella is a librettist and playwright based in Illinois. His work includes the chamber operas The Murderess with composer Allison McIntosh (Landlocked Opera, 2023; Opera Kansas, 2024), Ghost Story with composer Felipe Hoyos-Gonzalez (Illinois Modern Ensemble, workshop, 2024; Lyric Theatre of the University of Illinois, scheduled 2025), as well as the musical Killer Maples: The Musical! with composer Andres Ramos (Yelling Man Theatre, 2016), and the play Sibyl (Ohio University Theatre Department, 2019). For three years, he worked on development and outreach for Apollinaire Theater Company in Chelsea, MA, where he led the development, outreach, and fundraising for the Apollinaire Black Box, the Riseman Family Theatre, and the Apollinaire Play Lab. With Dr. Joachim Raese, he is the author of Our Shared Delusions, a book on psychiatric neuroscience. He earned his MFA in Playwriting at Ohio University.
