Tyler Thomas is a theater director working at the intersection of culture, community, and social impact.

Tyler Thomas is a director and theater maker, currently based in NYC. Her work uses archival, historical, and new material to reinvestigate the past, center life on the margins, and  imagine alternate futures. Tyler has recently staged new work with The Vineyard Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Geva Theatre, and The Flea. She is a recipient of the 2020 Susan Stroman Directing Award and a 2025 Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists Award. She has taught as a Guest/Visiting Artist at UCLA, UC Santa Cruz,  NYU Tisch, and the Athens Conservatoire in Greece. She also serves as the Associate Artistic Director for Arts for EveryBody, a national arts and health initiative which supported 18 communities across the country in their work to create 18 distinct public art projects designed to improve community wellbeing.
