Company One hosted a discussion about Aditi Kapil's Love Person and collaboration with Boston's Deaf community livestreamed on the global, commons-based peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Sunday 10 June 2012 at 1:15 p.m. PDT (San Francisco) / 3:15 p.m. CDT (Chicago) / 4:15 p.m. EDT (Boston) / 20:15 GMT / 9:15 p.m. BST (London) / 10:15 p.m. CEST (Berlin).

In celebration of the production of Aditi Brennan Kapil’s Love Person, as well as collaborations with Boston’s Deaf community, Company One theatre in Boston hosted an ASL Community Event featuring Aditi Brennan Kapil (Playwright), Bonnie Kaplan (Director of Cultural Access and The Open Door Gallery at VSA Massachusetts), production team members, moderated by Ilana M. Brownstein (Company One Director of New Work). The conversation with Kapil, followed by discussion with the audience, was livestreamed on HowlRound TV at howlround.tv, and was interpreted in American Sign Language. Deaf and hearing audiences are welcome both in person, as well as online.

Love Person is a transcendent four-part love story told in Sanskrit, American Sign Language, English, and email. Two couples are rocked to their cores when love unexpectedly transcends sexual orientation, physical attraction, and social structures. Free, a Deaf woman in a relationship with Maggie, accidentally strikes up a correspondence with Ram, a Boston University professor of Sanskrit and love-interest of Free’s sister Vic. The four find themselves inextricably bound by technology, translation, and the breakdown of language itself. More information here.
