Ana Bess Moyer Bell

Ana Bess Moyer Bell is a drama therapist, playwright, and harm reduction activist whose work integrates drama therapy and therapeutic theatre to address issues like substance use disorder, PTSD, grief, and displacement. She has designed and facilitated programs nationally and internationally, including with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine to support refugee youth. Her clinical and community-based experience spans populations such as caregivers of children with chronic illness, refugees, individuals experiencing homelessness, and peer recovery specialists. As the founding Executive Director of 2nd Act, Ana Bess developed psychoeducational and drama therapeutic programming that reached thousands annually. She partners with nonprofits and state agencies to build trauma-informed, sustainable programming and is a co-author of peer-reviewed research on drama therapy and recovery. Ana Bess teaches in the Expressive Therapies Graduate Program at Lesley University and serves as Treasurer of the North American Drama Therapy Association.
