Artistic Director, Missouri Playwrights Workshop
David Crespy is professor of playwriting, acting, dramatic literature at the University of Missouri, founded MU's Writing for Performance Program and serves as its co-director. He is the founding Artistic Director of MU's Missouri Playwrights Workshop, and president of the Edward Albee Society. He received the 2011 Gold Medallion from the Kennedy American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). His plays have been developed and produced at theatres across the US including the Cherry Lane Theatre, NJ Dramatists, Playwrights Theatre of NJ, Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Primary Stages, The Playwrights Center, HB Playwrights Foundation, Austin Melodrama, Jewish Repertory Theatre, and Stages St. Louis. Books include: Off-Off Broadway Explosion (with a foreword by Edward Albee), Richard Barr: The Playwright’s Producers (with a foreword by Edward Albee), Lanford Wilson: Early Stories, Sketches and Poems (with a foreword by Marshall W. Mason), and (with Lincoln Konkle, co-editor) Edward Albee as Theatrical and Dramatic Innovator.
