Kelly Tsai

Kelly Tsai is an award-winning writer, performer, and director based in Brooklyn. Her work has been recognized with grants from New York Foundation for the Arts/Asian American Arts Alliance, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Asian Women's Giving Circle; residencies at Hedgebrook, Norcroft, New York Live Arts; awards from American Association of University Women, Americorps Alums, Media That Matters Film Festival.

Her theatrical work has been developed and presented by Ars Nova, Downtown Urban Theater Festival, Museum of Chinese in America, Brooklyn Museum, Hip Hop Theater Festival, El Museo del Barrio, the Culture Project, UC-Santa Cruz Rainbow Theater, Rising Circle Theater, Columbia College Chicago, and more.

She was an original member of the nationally touring theatre collectives Mango Tribe (MAP Fund Grantee) and We Got Issues! (Exec. Produced by Jane Fonda & Eve Ensler). She has also collaborated with dance companies and theatre artists like Urban Bush Women (Joe's Pub, NYC Summerstage) and Ping Chong (National Asian American Theater Festival).

Her work as a spoken word poet has been featured at over 700 performances worldwide including audiences at the White House, Lincoln Center, Apollo Theater, Kennedy Center, HBO's East of Main Street: Asians Aloud, and three seasons of HBO's Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry. For more info, visit kellytsai.com and youtube.com/kztsai
