Leon J. Hilton is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies at Brown University

Leon J. Hilton is an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies at Brown University. His current book project, forthcoming from the University of Minnesota Press, examines how cultural attitudes towards neurological disability and difference have been represented, negotiated, and contested in performance across a range of genres—including theatre, documentary film, and media and performance art—from the mid-20th century through the present. His research has been supported by a Creative Capital | Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant and the Mellon Foundation, and has been published in GLQAfrican American Review, The Journal of Literary and Cultural Disability Studies, and TDR/The Drama Review
