rivka eckert is a mother/artist, scholar activist, and abolitionist theatre-maker. As a scholar activist, her writings have been published in esteemed outlets such as Teaching Artist Journal, TYA/USA, and Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Journal. rivka has been recognized for her work and received the Arizona Humanities Rising Star Award. Her current book project titled "Into Abolitionist Theatre" was published March 2024 by Routledge. Her expertise lies in theatre in prisons and rehabilitative facilities, community-based theatre, and the politics and ethics of arts for social change. Additionally, rivka examines the intersections of motherhood, advocacy, and equity in higher education, theatre, and performance. She holds degrees from Emerson College and Arizona State University.
