
Theodor-Cristian Popescu holds a BFA in Directing from the National Theatre and Film University in Bucharest, a MFA in Directing from the University of Montana and a Ph. D. In Theatre from the University of Arts in Targu Mures where he is currently Head of the Masters Program in Directing. He is an awarded director with over 60 productions in Romania, Canada and US. He prefers contemporary authors, such as Martin Crimp, Arthur Kopit, Howard Barker, Tony Kushner, Juan Mayorga, Hanoch Levin, John Mighton, Jordi Galceran, Marius von Mayenburg or Roland Schimmelpfennig. He has previously taught at The National Theatre University in Bucharest, The University of Montana in Missoula, The National Theatre School of Canada and The University of Quebec in Montreal. He contributes articles and essays to different cultural magazines and has published a book: Overflow of people or Overflow of Ideas. The Pioneers of Independence in post 1989 Romanian Theatre.
