Diaspora Stories: MENA/SWANA Over the Years

CAATA Conversations

Monday 11 May 2026
Remote video URL

An online conversation reconnecting artists, activists, and organizations who have shaped the MENA and SWANA theatre legacy, including Meena Natarajan, Andrea Assaf, Sahar Assaf, and Torange Yeghiazarian (one more speaker, pending). This panel will explore what solidarity looks like right now:

  • Solidarity between theatre companies? Between different communities of color? Toward those who are most impacted by oppression? Toward international communities?
  • How do identity based groups collaborate without losing specificity?
  • How can we work together to expand opportunities rather than find ourselves competing for the limited resources?

As we celebrate this historic moment, we invite you to join us in supporting CAATA’s future. We are aiming to raise $20,000 to support our continued work and ensure that CAATA remains a lifeline for artists in the years to come.
