Groundwater Arts presented Get Fossil Fuels Off the Stage! livestreamed on the commons-based, peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv Saturday 14 August 2021 at 1 p.m. PDT (Los Angeles, UTC -7) / 3 p.m. CDT (Chicago, UTC -5) / 4 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC -4) / 21:00 BST (London, UTC +1) / 22:00 CEST (Berlin, UTC +2).

The event includes a performance of The Water Song by Oogie Push followed by a contract rider panel on divestment featuring Nikkole Salter, Brandon Michael Nase, and Michael Francis.

We have much more power than institutions lead us to believe when it comes to divesting from fossil fuels. This event will feature a beautiful play about protecting water followed by a panel that will give individual artists information about how contract riders could work, ideas of how to approach these conversations with producers, and the power of riders!

About Groundwater Arts
Founded in 2018, Groundwater Arts is a predominantly POC, half Indigenous, fully women-led citizen-artist collaborative based across the United States. We’re committed to reenvisioning the arts field through a climate justice lens, which is activated through the principles of a Green New Theatre (GNT), a movement-building document penned by Groundwater Arts in partnership with arts makers throughout the country. Our work has involved sharing and peer exchange at national conferences (Theatre Communications Group), universities (Bard College), and theatres nationwide in an effort to spur new ways of thinking and ingrain just, decolonized methodologies into the American theatre’s operation/production.
