New York-based artist Sarah Cameron Sunde officially begins her global project 36.5 / a durational performance with the sea in The Netherlands August 10-23, after successful pilot iterations in Maine, Mexico, and San Francisco. The project is a partnership with TAAK in Amsterdam and Satellietgroep in The Hague.

36.5 / a durational performance with the sea is a global series: Sunde stands in a tidal bay in an urban environment for a full tidal cycle, approximately 12-13 hours, as the water engulfs her body and then recedes; the public is invited to take part as spectator, participant, informed citizen, and creative thinker.

This time-based art project acknowledges the permanently temporary nature of things and considers our relationship to water within contemporary urban environments, as individuals and as a civilization.
