2g presents Sixteen Going on Seventeen at Joe’s Pub celebrating the 2012-13 season and introducing its commissioned writers, livestreamed on the global, commons-based peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Monday 24 June 2013 at 4 p.m. PDT (San Francisco) / 6 p.m. CDT (Chicago) / 7 p.m. EDT (New York).

Playwright Sung Rno is an NEA/TCG Playwrighting Fellow, graduating from Harvard and Brown. His musical partner Aaron Jones, graduated from NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.

Playwright Anna Moench is a recent Jerome and Van Lier Fellow, as well as a member of the Public Theater’s Emerging Writer’s Group.

Five-time Tony Award Winner Audra McDonald just recorded one of Composer/Lyricist Adam Gwon’s songs for her latest album and performed it on PBS.

You’re invited to sneak peek at their plays and musicals-in-progress and see why these significant voices are making 2g an artistic home.

Ukulele-wielding comedian Jen Kwok hosts the evening featuring the talents of Alfredo Narciso, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Damon Daunno, Broadway Barkada, Eileen Rivera, David Ross, Elena Chang, Jed Orlemann, Eugene Oh, Aisha Jackson, and more to be announced. The evening also features works by playwrights Mrinalini Kamath and Lolan Sevilla.

 

 

Second Generation, under the artistic direction of Victor Maog, is a sixteen-year old, NYC-based non-profit that has produced at Carnegie Hall, The New York State Theatre, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Public Theater. 2g is one of the country’s most important incubators of Asian-American theatrical talent.
