Carla Stillwell

Carla Stillwell (she/her) Ms. Stillwell is a two-time Emmy Award winning producer, an award-winning actor, playwright, artistic director and teacher for three decades.

Ms. Stillwell was a 20 year teaching artist with Victory Gardens Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, C.A.P.E and MPAACT where she is still a resident playwright and the former Artistic Director. Her tenure with MPAACT was 22 seasons. She is currently an adjunct professor at The Theatre School at DePaul. Carla founded The Stillwell Institute for Contemporary Black Arts. The Stillwell Institute’s mission is to recruit, develop and support contemporary Black artists and to teach art making in the Black community as a healing practice, a vehicle for social change and a viable career opportunity. She is currently on the staff at Collaboraction Theatre as the Managing Director
