
Jim Houghton is the Founding Artistic Director of New York’s Signature Theatre, the first non profit theatre company in the US to devote each season to the work of a single living playwright. In 2012, Signature moved to its permanent home at the Pershing Square Signature Center, the largest new theatre center built in NYC in over 50 years. Under Mr. Houghton’s leadership, Signature and its artists have received many accolades, including the Pulitzer Prize, Obie Awards, Drama Desk Awards, Lucille Lortel Awards, and Outer Critics Circle Awards. In 2014, Signature Theatre became the first Off-Broadway theatre to be honored with the Regional Tony Award. More recently, Mr. Houghton was honored with the Visionary Game-Changer Award at the National Theatre communications Group Convergence. Jim is also the Richard Rogers Director of the Drama Division at The Juilliard School.
