Justin Tyler Lewis

Justin Tyler Lewis is a professional actor and full-time member of Barter Theatre’s resident acting company in Abingdon, VA. He holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. After serving in the resident acting company of Charleston Stage Company in Charleston, SC, he joined the Barter Theatre in 2010 as a member of their post-graduate training program and apprentice company - the Barter Players. He has performed in a number of traditional roles ranging from Freddy in My Fair Lady to Young Ralphie in A Christmas Story among many others, performed in the US premiere of Robin Hawdon’s I Do, I Do, I Do, and originated a number of roles in plays developed by the Barter Theatre including Leo in The Wind Farmer, Buck in The Call of the Wild, and Lamar inWalking Across Egypt

My maturation as a young theater practitioner has nothing to do with finding and knowing the answers. I don’t know them. Trust me. It has everything to do with facing the pivotal question: of which American theater do I want to be a part? The answer is that I will only, and can only, be a part of the theater that evolves through the specific and indispensable relationship with its community.
