Director of Special Projects, Dept of Art, Culture and Tourism for the City of Providence

Rebecca is a community performance maker, arts educator, and administrator in Rhode Island. Rebecca served as the first Director of Community Engagement at Trinity Rep in Providence from 2015-2019 and was the second Director of Community Engagement at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis from 2019-2023. As an independent artist, Rebecca co-led the tri-coastal devising company Strange Attractor for a decade with collaborators in RI, Philadelphia and Juneau, AK. Alongside her work with the Department of Art, Culture and Tourism for the City of Providence, Rebecca and her partner Jed steer Center Aquidneck, which is dedicated to producing annual community events with their neighbors on Aquidneck Island.

The Life of an Improbable Ensemble

In this, Strange Attractor’s first major process, we put our commitment to the test, and through that difficult process, we became an ensemble. We still worked without a director, but unlike our first casual process, now we cared about the outcome. We’d fundraised for airline tickets and stipends and gotten our communities excited about our company. Suddenly it wasn’t enough to make something—we wanted it to be good.
