The Lilly Awards are made possible with generous support from The Dramatists Guild and The New York Women’s Foundation, and sustaining assistance from the Lilly Awards Leadership Circle.

The Lilly Awards began in 2010, founded by Julia Jordan, Marsha Norman, and Theresa Rebeck. The Awards are named for Lillian Hellman, a pioneering American playwright who famously said, “You need to write like the devil and act like one too when necessary.”
