Betty Shamieh (Mellon playwright-in-residence at the Classical Theatre of Harlem) and actor Allen Gilmore discuss their interpretations of Malvolio as a writer and an actor. Shamieh is working on a sequel to Twelfth Night that centers on the character of Malvolio. She will discuss with Allen how he approached She will discuss with Allen how he approached that role of Malvolio as an actor during CTH’s recent summer production of Twelfth Night at Marcus Garvey Park and the process of humanizing characters who are traditionally presented as buffoons in classical plays.
