Our mission is to provide opportunities for our stories to be heard by providing the #DeafWoke platform to uplift BIPOC Deaf and disabled artists voices and to contribute to the arts and larger society, increasing awareness at the intersections of audism, ableism, and racism--this includes DeafDisabled stories as a force for cultural change and collective liberation. There is also a space to talk about economics, parenthood, and education.

Guest Bio: Sheena Lyles (SHEE + nuh) is an American comedienne, content creator, and actress. She is deaf. Sheena was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in an undeveloped little city of York, PA since 5 years old. Throughout much of Lyles’ childhood, she was repeatedly assaulted. As a coping mechanism, the young Lyles found humor to battle back the pain of her childhood. And then the experience of those masked tough years would later provide a source for much of Lyles’ comedy. As a girl, Lyles was obsessed with stand-up comedy and comedians in general, and she listed Mo’Nique, Martin Lawerence, Dave Chappelle, and Chris Rock as important influences.
Lyles came into the public eye in a 6th episode of the TV ONE true crime story television programme: For My Woman as a Daphne Wright and the "What" film.
