A panel for Dancer from the Dance Festival of Irish Choreography live online discussion "How the Body Carries Stories", moderated by Michael Seaver. Michael is a musician and writer. He is the dance critic with The Irish Times and writes for publications, such as Tanz, Dance Theatre Journal, Dance Magazine and Dance Europe, as well as contributing to books and journals. As a composer he wrote over twenty scores for dance companies in Ireland and Mexico, and has received a New York Times/National Endowment of the Arts Fellowship for his dance criticism.

From John Scott: "In my work, I collaborate a lot with Refugees and Torture Survivors from Africa and the Middle East. Many of my collaborators are now Irish citizens and identify as Irish. But it isn’t easy for them to say that. For me, living in Ireland and feeling both proud, patriotic and also ambiguous, the idea behind the title and the entire festival, is about identity and nationalism, racism and personal identity, personal archeology in relation to where we live, where we think we belong and what nationality we identify with. I think the Black Lives Matter issue has brought this to the forefront and is challenging cultural establishments. every body has it’s unique story. maybe the story is that beautiful abstract thing in dance, that is present but doesn’t need to be told. I think of our body’s journey as our story. Sometimes dance can say some of these things without using words and labels.”
