LA Writers Center presented The Voices of Afghanistan, designed to amplify Afghan stories. We believe these stories need to be heard and we are now, more than ever, prepared to listen. Livestreamed on the commons-based, peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv Friday 29 October 2021.
The Voices of Afghanistan is a project that we felt was necessary and inevitable due to the unrest in Afghanistan. Our writers put together a verbatim theatre piece. We interviewed Afghan and Afghan-American citizens about the situation in their homeland and how it has affected their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
We consider this a call to action, and we are eager to share these voices with you.
Conceived by Che'Rae Adams and written by Che'Rae Adams, Brandon Jones, Angeline Larimer, Caitlin Mayernik, Abdul-Khaliq Murtadha, Jaymes Poling, and Amy Raasch.
Actors include Leena Alam, Abdul-Khaliq Murtadha, Buck Hujabre, Mueen Jahan, Jaymes Poling, and Donna Simone Johnson among others.
