The Indigenous Theatre Symposium will feature keynote remarks from Santee Smith (Kahnyen’kehàka Nation, Turtle Clan), artistic director of Kaha:wi Dance Theatre; an Indigenous Playwrights Panel Conversation with creatives such as DeLanna Studi (Cherokee) who Geva audiences got to know through her play And So We Walked last season and who will be Geva Theatre’s 2024/26 artist in residence; a film screening of Unseen Tears; as well as a special panel composed of young Native playwrights presented in collaboration with Native Voices.

Join us at this panel discussing the importance of visibility with the creation of these Directories and learn how community is cultivated and supported through the programming offered by Maestra Music.

The TCG National Conference is one of the largest nationwide gatherings of the not-for-profit theatre community. TCG has been gathering folks this way since 1976 and each year, the National Conference creates space for theatre practitioners across the globe to get inspired, learn from one another, and build toward collective action. It’s also been a way for TCG and the field to get intimately familiar with theatre communities around the country, and to channel the particular energy of their artists.

Pillsbury House and Theatre (PH+T) presented The Theatrical Jazz Concert at The University of Minnesota that celebrates and extends the legacy of groundbreaking artists Laurie Carlos, Sekou Sundiata, Ntozake Shange, and numerous others who revolutionized the American theatre by invoking elements of classic jazz—such as call-and-response, polyphony, syncopation, and improvisation—as theatrical language.
