Calling for Radical Change: A Fieldwide Conversation: The Climate Crisis, Performing Arts Touring, and our Future

Monday 11 January 2021

The Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) presented Calling for Radical Change: A Fieldwide Conversation: The Climate Crisis, Performing Arts Touring, and our Future livestreaming on the global, commons-based peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Monday 11 January 2021 at 11:45 a.m. PST (Los Angeles, UTC -8) / 2:45 p.m. EST (New York, UTC -5) / 19:45 GMT (London, UTC +0) / 20:45 CET (Berlin, UTC +1).

The current coronavirus pandemic has brought performing arts touring to a crushing halt, resulting in an unfathomable, and yet overdue, shift in how we work. Simultaneously, the imminent, global climate emergency with its increasingly severe impacts is devastating our communities and changing how we engage them.

During this necessary pause, we—artists, agents, programmers, producers and venues—have the rare opportunity to innovate and reimagine what’s possible in the face of both pandemics.

How can we as a field address the impending climate crisis while we still have time to do so? What have we learned during this time and how can we build on it? In this session, join arts leaders, climate crisis experts, artists and innovators who are already responding to the crisis and calling for collective action to learn how the performing arts presenting, booking and touring field can tap our power for change and worldwide impact.

This event is presented in partnership with the annual APAP|NYC conference. To learn more and register for APAP|NYC+ (January 8-12, 2021), visit APAPNYC.org.

hi there for some reason I was unable to see the chat for this discussion and very much hoped to make some connections in this field. Do you have any advise on how to view the chat? I don't have facebook. Many thanks for this fantastic topical conversation. Melly x
