Cecilia Copeland

Cecilia Copeland is a playwright, screenwriter, and Founding Artistic Director of New York Madness. The world premiere production of her play, Light of Night will open this fall at Iati Theatre. Her works have been produced or presented at The Anarchist Theatre Festival of Montreal, HERE Arts Center, Cherry Lane Theatre, EST, INTAR Theatre, and Metro Screen Australia, among others. Her full length,The Wicked Son was named one of the Top Three Best New Jewish Plays by the JPP. She is a semifinalist for The O’Neill Playwrights Conference and The Emerging Playwrights Prize at The Marin Theatre, as well as a Finalist for Mabou Mines Residency. Ms. Copeland is the recipient of the Lennis J. Holm Playwriting Scholarship from the University of Iowa for her Honors Thesis, One Woman. She is a Member of the Dramatists Guild of America and The League of Professional Theatre Women.
