Leah Nanako Winkler

Leah Nanako Winkler is from Kamakura, Japan and Lexington, Kentucky. Her play KENTUCKY (2015 Kilroys List) will receive a world premiere by Ensemble Studio Theatre and Page 73 Productions in April 2016. Other plays include- DEATH FOR SYDNEY BLACK (TerraNova Collective, 2 Kilroys Nominations), Double Suicide At Ueno Park!!! (35th Marathon of One-Act Plays at Ensemble Studio Theatre), Taisetsu na Hito (Winner: Sam French OOB Fest)  and with playwright Teddy Nicholas,  Flying Snakes in 3-D!!!ˆ which ran at The Brick Theater and the Ice Factory at New Ohio Theatre in 2012. Leah’s work has been developed at Page 73, Playwrights Horizons/Clubbed Thumb, New Georges, New York Theatre Workshop, The Bushwick Starr, The Flea Theatre and more. She is a two time recipient of the NYU’s A/P/A commission for researching and writing about biracial identity and one of her essays was a part of the exhibition, Visible & Invisible at the Japanese American National Museum. Her collections of short plays, NAGORIYUKI & Other Short Plays and The Lowest Form Of Writing are available on Amazon.  Publications include Nanjing University’s Stage and Screen Reviews ( China, December 2014 edition), Samuel French and Siimon and Krauss.
