Glod: Political Theatre as a Civil Right presented Corp Urban by Giuvlipen livestreaming on the global, commons-based, peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Monday 22 March at 11 a.m. PDT (San Francisco, UTC -7) / 2 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC -4) / 6 p.m. GMT (London, UTC +0) / 20:00 EET (Cluj, UTC +2).

Romanian noun

  1. Wet earth (soaked by rain water or melted snow)
  2. Mud
  3. Clay

From the Hungarian galád or the Russian глуда (gluda)

Corp Urban fictionalizes the stories of four Roma women and investigates the relationship between them and their own body, through a personal lens, but also in a social context: the body as a means of production, the body as property, the body as a cradle of motherhood; the healthy body, the sick body, the shameful body, the physical body as a mirror of social life and as the only personal possession. We make a foray into the universe of the marginalized, exploring the gray areas of morality and society and open for debate the controversial subject of sexual and reproductive rights, in a musical show, tender, assumed and brave, about body, sexuality, survival and identity, in 21st century Romania.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the post show discussion will not follow the show, but instead will be added to the archive recording.

More on the show here.

Following the stream of the production will be a panel discussion. On the panel will be cast members and founders of Giuvlipen Mihaela Drăgan & Zita Moldovan and Georgiana Aldessa Lincan- a Roma feminist activist, with expertise in advocacy and grassroots work with groups of Roma women, roma girls and roma youth. She has been working with E-Romnja - Association for Promoting Roma Women's Rights since 2013, and through her activity she wants to create safe spaces for Roma girls, through which to offer them the opportunity to freely express their ideas and opinions in an intersectional feminist collective where they can feel supported regardless of their choices.

This show is performed in Romanian with English subtitles.

Cast: Mihaela Drăgan, Zita Moldovan
