Piehole presented Virtual Translation: Bringing Piehole's Disclaimer to Zoom livestreaming on the global, commons-based, peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Monday 29 March 2021 at 3 p.m. PDT (San Francisco, UTC -7) / 5 p.m. CDT (Chicago, UTC -5) / 6 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC -4).
Originally conceived as an in-person gathering, Piehole’s Disclaimer—an interactive, anti-war-with-Iran presentation-turned-murder mystery show—went virtual for The Public’s all-online Under the Radar 2021.
Remote digital theater presents a host of challenges, frustrations, and opportunities, which changed the show in countless unexpected ways, as the artists sought to preserve the intrigue and liveness of the original while hacking an only-slightly-tested new performance medium.
Join Piehole members Tara Ahmadinejad, Alexandra Panzer, Ben Vigus, and Jeff Wood and key collaborators Reza Behjat, Stefania Bulbarella, Alessandra Cronin, and Eli Schleicher, for a (free) technical skill-share and discussion on adaptation across mediums, hosted live on HowlRound. They will present video, audio, and software tips, tricks, and insights they learned, and welcome your questions in a live Q+A.
If you missed Disclaimer, Piehole is making it available online through April 5 here. If you don't have time to watch the show before the panel, don't worry! It should still be interesting and accessible even if you don't know the show.
