The Lark in New York City presented Meet the Writers, the public kick-off event of the 22nd Annual Playwrights' Week livestreamed by CultureHub on the HowlRound.tv network on Sunday 4 October at 7 p.m. EDT (New York) / 6 p.m. CDT (Chicago) / 4 p.m. PDT (San Francisco) / 23:00 GMT

Meet the eight writers—Hilary Bettis, Clarence Coo, Adi Hanash, James Ijames, Katie May, Eric Pfeffinger, Patrick Vassel, and Claire Willett—as they speak about the process of playwriting and share excerpts from their plays.

In Twitter, follow @LarkTalks and @HowlRoundTV, and use #MeetTheWriters to send questions and to get updates.

Moderated by Literary Agent and playwright advocate Beth Blickers.

From among 1278 submissions, seven plays by these eight playwrights were selected to participate in an intensive week-long retreat, designed to foster a peer-based community among the writers, their creative teams, and Lark’s staff through a series of conversations around the work.

Each new play receives ten hours of rehearsal in advance of a public staged reading, focusing on the writer’s self-stated developmental goals.

The playwrights define their own goals for what they want to accomplish, and then spend the week together with each other and their collaborators, working to achieve those goals. Each writer has the company of seven other extraordinary writers, who are there not just as a sounding board, but as a community.

Playwrights' Week 2014 will take place October 4-8 at the Lark (311 W. 43rd St. 5th floor). For more information about Playwrights' Week visit here.

The Lark will also live-tweet the event via @LarkTalks. To follow the conversation type #MeetTheWriters in the search bar located at the top of your Twitter account starting at 7pm EDT on Sunday, October 4. To view the entire conversation, click the “All” link located under “Results” at the top. From that page you can track the conversation.

The Lark will take questions from Twitter during the Q&A portion of the evening.
