Zug in Cluj, Romania presented a performance of Etiquette, or the Perfect Human by Stereo Akt (Hungary) as a part of the Guest Performance Series in the Zug livestreaming on the global, commons-based peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv Monday 23 September 2019 at 1 p.m. EDT (New York, UTC -4) / 17:00 UTC +0 / 6 p.m. BST (London, UTC +1) / 19:00 CEST (Berlin, UTC +2) / 20:00 EEST (Bucharest, UTC +3).
Stereo Akt is one of the most progressive Hungarian contemporary theatre collectives, which creates event-like performances with the artistic leadership of Martin Boross. Theatre is an event, audience members are participants, and the point of the event is the meeting of the participants' reality and the fantasy of the artist. The essence of Stereo Akt performances is born from the – often wordless – dialogue between audience and performers.
Etiquette, or The Perfect Human: a documentary on nature in a speaking room
Premiere: 13 February 2016, Budapest.
A documentary on nature of human. The viewers arrive as guests to someone’s home but it all turns into an absurd lesson on common courtesy. Or rather a round trip in the hidden, instinctive chambers or our brains. Through lust, gobbling, stomping and duels we’ll learn the appropriate way of anxiousness, behavior, compliance—while preserving the highest degree of political correctness and politeness. We would all like to be good. But good is not enough, perfection is the goal. It is not enough to be perfect—you have make it apparent.
We follow the two figures like looking through the walls of a terrarium guided by the voice of the cheeky and honest Narrator through a headphone whispering in our ears.
