Sorry is a performance about and research into relationships. The performance is inspired by the work ‘Parasite’ by French philosopher Michel Serres. Serres’ book defends the theory that parasitism is the only possible natural relationship. There is the one who gives, shares, creates, offers. And there is the other who does none of the above, but only takes. The one who eats away at the other, exploits, and gives and creates nothing.
In times of celebrating brutal power, frauds, manipulation and the dictates of social structures, it is difficult to pinpoint a parasite; especially when nobody wants to be recognized as a leech, a lazybones. Is parasitism the only true foundation of nature, or perhaps even a precondition for any type of relationship?
