Songwriting Master Class with Michael John LaChiusa at the Dramatists Guild
Dramatists Guild of America presented a songwriting master class with composer/lyricist Michael John LaChiusa as part of the DG Conservatory series livestreamed on the global, commons-based, peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Thursday 13 December 2012 at 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m. PST (Los Angeles) / 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. CST (Chicago) / 6 p.m.–7:30 p.m. EST (New York) / 23:00-oo:30 GMT (London).
The evening consisted of Michael John LaChiusa discussing the ins-and-outs of theatrical songwriting, including some examples from his own work. Three Dramatists Guild Fellows then presented work to Michael John, who will critique and offer suggestions in front of the membership, so that all can learn and benefit from his expertise. The last half hour will be a Q&A, open to all participants.
