Bartlett Sher will be interviewed about his thoughts on directing by playwright, Dramatists Guild member, and Harvardwood NYC Chapter Head Spence Porter.

Bartlett Sher's direction of the 2008 revival of South Pacific earned him a Tony, a Drama Desk, and an Outer Critics Circle award as Best Director of a Musical, and the show won six other Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. Other credits include Awake and Sing! (Tony nomination), Golden Boy (Tony nomination), Joe Turner's Come and Gone (Tony nomination), and The Light in the Piazza (Tony nomination). In 2000, he won an Obie for his production of Granville-Barker's Waste at Theatre for a New Audience. His production of Cymbeline was the first American production ever performed at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and earned him a Callaway Award as well as nominations for the Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk awards. He was formerly Artistic Director of Seattle's Intiman Theater, where he directed world premieres of plays by Craig Lucas, as well as a rich assortment of classic and new work. He is also active as a director of opera. His Metropolitan Opera credits include The Barber of Seville, Tales of Hoffman, Le Comte Ory, and, most recently, L'Elisir d'Amore.
