NET's MicroFest USA: Kentucky/Tennesse—Friday 26 October and Saturday 27 October 2012
The Network of Ensemble Theater presented MicroFest Kentucky/Tennessee livestreamed on the global, commons-based peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Friday 26 October and Friday 27 October 2012.
What is the impact of art in your community? The challenges facing America are immense… and the solutions will involve art.
The Network of Ensemble Theaters' MicroFest USA: Revitalize, Reconnect, Renew was a look at America and the role that art and artists play in creating healthy, vibrant communities. Part festival, part think-tank, the MicroFests galvanize local and national artists/activists/thinkers around placemaking efforts, while creating opportunities for learning exchange and inspiring new models across the United States.
MicroFest Kentucky/Tennessee: This region’s place-based art, embedded in tradition and social activism, reveals a movement that turns to memory and tradition—not as nostalgia, but as a key to understanding who Appalachians are today. We take two glimpses of this region, one rural (Harlan, KY) and one urban (Knoxville, TN).
