About The Legacy (Az örökség)
There’s a shortage of doctors in Hungary. There’s a shortage of children in Hungary. Due to his mother’s death a young pediatrician returns from Germany back to Hungary’s poorest county, to Borsod. He inherits his mother’s pediatric practice, but he doesn’t want to keep this heritage. By constraint he begins to deal with patients who finds him. During the arrangement of the heritage process he has to clarify his relationship with his mother in himself and to face what he really inherited when the cure of the whole Hungarian rural area’s population becomes his duty.
After the Hungarian premiere of Mihaly Schwechtje’s two films in 2018, both of which he wrote and directed, now he tells the story on stage about recent Hungary. His short movie called Ready or Not showed the children trade at an extremely poor Hungarian village. His first movie called Hope You’ll Die Next Time :) gives us the insight into the emotions and frustrations of today’s teenagers. The Heritage is the director’s own theatre piece in which a homecoming young pediatrician faces the facts that the neighbourhood where his ex-pediatrician mother practiced such values like humanity and decency don’t apply anymore.
