In an increasingly specialized world in which artists are encouraged never to wear more than one hat lest they risk being dismissed as dilettantes, it’s exciting to find so many companies cropping up that are being run by writers. Join us for a panel comprised of four accomplished playwrights, each of whom is at the helm of his or her own theater company or festival. What are the unique challenges faced by writers who don the hat of Artistic Director? And how has the landscape changed in recent years for those playwrights interested in running their own show? These and other questions will be the topic of discussion at this DG Academy panel.

The panel will be moderated by Guild Director of Membership, Roland Tec, himself no stranger to the Artistic Director hat.
