Towards a Future of Artist Leadership

As we continue to see the different approaches to new leadership at many of the country's regional flagship theaters, it feels an especially critical time to be reminded of the power, vision and voice of the individual artist. In 2018, we find ourselves in a field where a handful of artists are raised-up but the voice of the producer remains firmly in place, deciding both process and the resultant productions onstage. This curation of articles centers around ideas of how to continue challenging and iterating what true leadership can look like in the theater field...and in art-making.
